O'Connell & Love is a collaboration between Larry Love, lead singer of South London outlaws The Alabama 3, and songwriting partner Brendan O'Connell. Larry Love is an Ivor Novello Award-winning songwriter, best known for Woke Up This Morning, theme tune to The Sopranos. He and Brendan O'Connell have known each other since Brixton nights in the 1990s, when Alabama 3 were starting out. Larry regularly did guest vocals for Brendan's band, Past Caring, and Brendan’s guitar can be heard on some Alabama 3 tracks.
O'Connell & Love first collaborated on the 2006 album Ghost Flight, released under the name of Robert Love, and credited by Kris Kristofferson as "one of the finest debut album is I've ever heard".
Their 2015 album, Minesweeping, was well-received in national and local press and was voted Album of the Year by music journalist Sean Hannam, who described it as "one of the most eclectic and richly rewarding albums of recent times... it’s like rifling through a record collection of classic rock and roll, folk, blues, country and soul".
O'Connell & Love will be showcasing tracks from their forthcoming new album, as well as favourites from Minesweeping and Ghost Flight.
